Brahms ‚Bravo‘ Lafortune
This club dancer is no stranger to the business of house music. As a dancer/producer/DJ/performer he was intimately involved in the NYC underground club scene from its inception.
In the early 1980’s Bravo became involved with clubbing and decided to mentally and physically dedicate himself to the scene because the lights were brighter, the people were happier and the sound systems were monstrously overwhelming.
Clubbing was Bravo’s school and each night was a lesson in sound, attitude and busting the right moves.
Dancing to the music played by legendary DJs including Kenny Carpenter, Timmy Regisford, David Mancouso, Larry Levan, Tony Humphries and David Morales, Bravo honed his fast foot work and developed his own style.
That’s where he developed his music and dance vocabulary up to now: Studio 54, Paradise Garage, The Loft to name just a few!
Bravo is one of the six featured dancers in the dance documentary „Check Your Body At The Door“. He continues to perform with critically acclaimed musician/ songwriter/producer Strafe and in 2023 he celebrated the 40th anniversary of ‘Set It Off’, one of Rolling Stone magazine’s Top 200 Dance Songs of All Time.
Inspired by Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, the driving beats of house music and Busby Burkley’s choreography, Bravo’s style became Bravo Style.
Committed to teaching the next generation of dancers how to be free, Bravo conducts workshops all over the world. His classes are singular and life affirming, lifting each student’s energy and self confidence to the utmost heights.
